"The History of Thanksgiving Day~!!!"
Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday in the United States. It is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November every year. In 1620, a small ship named the Mayflower set sail to America. The people on the ship were called the “Pilgrims.” They landed in modern-day Cape Cod, which is a coastal region in Massachusetts. At first, the small group had quite a rough time adapting to the harsh environment of the New World.
Many of them died during their first winter. Eventually, in spring, they were greeted by some Native Americans who could speak English. These kind-hearted Native Americans taught the Pilgrims how to survive and grow corn. The following autumn, after the first successful corn harvest, Pilgrim leaders had a celebratory feast. They invited the Native Americans who helped them, and they celebrated the first Thanksgiving meal in 1621. Since then, many different states and regions have celebrated different forms of the holiday at different times in the fall. It was not until 1863 when President Lincoln formally declared Thanksgiving Day a national holiday.
