Naturally, Korean People had been burning fossil fuels like petroleum, coal and natural gas. but now atomic energy is a major source of electrical power for South Korea. And they use wind power and solar power to supplement traditional energy sources, such as coal, oil, and gas. 문제는 한국이 아니라 미국, 유럽 국가들, 그리고 중국이야. 물론 한국 사람들도 과거에는 석유, 석탄, 천연가스 같은 화석 연료를 연소해 왔어. 그러나 이제 원자력이 한국의 주요 전력 공급원이야. 그리고 한국은 석탄, 석유, 가스 같은 종래의 에너지원을 대체하기 위해 풍력과 태양에너지를 이용하고 있고.  In comparison, by 2010, less 3 percent of China's electricity will come from nuclear power. Today half of U.S. electricity is generated by coal, which is responsible for over 80 percent of carbon dioxide emissions, a main contributor to global warming. 이에 비해, 2010년까지 중국의 원자력 발전량은 총 발전량의 3%도 채 되지 않을껄. 오늘날 미국 전기량의 절반은 세계 온난화의 주요 원인인 이산화탄소배출량의 80% 이상의 원인이 되고 있는 석탄으로 생산돼.

 

happynakamura  I'm scared to death that atomic energy is a major source of electrical power for "South Korea". It may feel we live in a dangerous and unstable neighborhood. Korean is not to be trusted. I remember Chernobyl disaster, causing 400 times more nuclear 'fallout' than the atom bombing of Hiroshima.   원자력이 "한국"의 주요 전력 공급원이라니 겁난다. 그 한 가지는 우리가 위엄하고 불안정한 이웃 나라와 살고 있다고 느끼기 때문이지. 한국 기술은 믿을 수 없으니까. 나는 히로시마 핵폭탄보다 400배나 많은 원자력 '방사능낙진' 피해를 야기한 체르노빌 사고를 기억해.

 

Devoid2what  You know only one side of the story. You have to amend your opinion. I think many Koreans are very interested in the environmental probelms. And there haven't been any atomic accidents in South Korea. And, don't they have a reliable system of toxic waste disposal? On the contrary, there was an incident of radiation exposure to people at the nuclear power plant in Japan.  넌 하나만 알고 둘은 모르는구나. 네 의견을 정정해야 할꺼야. 나는 많은 한국인들이 환경 문제에 관심이 많다고 생각해. 그리고 원자력 사고는 한국에서 한 번도 없었어. 게다가 한국인들은 믿을 만한 유독성 폐기물 '처리(폐기)' 장치를 갖추고 있지 않니?  반면, 일본에서는 원자력 발전소에서 방사능 피폭 사고가 발생했었지. On September 30, 1999, there was an accident at a nuclear plant in Tokaimura, Japan. On that day, three plant employees accidentally poured too much uranium into a tank, which led to a leak of radiation and to radioactive 'fallout'. At least 90 people were exposed to high radiation. One worker died. Much had been contaminated by nuclear waste. 1999년 9월 30일 일본 도카이무라 핵발전공장에서 사고가 있었잖아. 그날 세 명의 직원이 우연히 너무 많은 우라늄을 탱크에 들이부었어. 그리고 그게 방사능 유출과 방사성의 '방사능낙진'을 야기했지. 적어도 90명 이상의 사람들이 높은 방사능에 노출됐어. 한 노동자는 죽었고. 많은 것들이 핵 폐기물로 오염됐지.

Hence I agree it's not problem for any one single country but for the whole global community. And it is true that more Korean people are becoming aware of environmental issues. However are Koreans all passionately interested in environmental issues? During his campaign, President Lee promised to dig a grand canal. Besides the rivers that are being devastated, biodiversity issues come into play, but also the livelihoods of local people. A lot of wildlife is already losing its natural habitat in South Korea. From what I hear, in South Korea, mountains and forests have been damaged extensively because of indiscriminate reclamation. So one calamity has followed on the heels of another. Sometimes there are an avalanch and a landslide. Three houses collapsed and were buried under a landslide, though more than a dozen people were dug out of the avalanche alive. Political parties pressured the minister and the deputy minister to step down from office after the calamity. You, the swindler had the audacity to accuse me of being a fraud!!  내가 듣기로는, 한국에서는 무분별한 개발로 산과 숲(산림)이 많이 훼손되었다고 해. 그래서 재난의 연속이라고 할 수 있지. 가끔 눈사태 혹은 산사태가 나. 비록 12명이 넘는 사람들이 그 산사태에서 살아 있는 상태로 구조되었지만, 세 채의 가옥이 산사태로 무너지고 흙에 묻혔다지. 이 재난 이후 정당들이 장관과 차관에게 사퇴 압력을 넣었어. 너 이 사기꾼 녀석이 나를 사기꾼이라고 고발하는 모함을 하네!!

 

Devoid2what  Your audacity is far out of reason. I agree reckless destruction of nature by human beings has brought ecological catastrophe. But don't generalize too much. We must urge industry to find ways of recycling cell phones as soon as possible.
